Slot City assisted Pamela Mann Ltd to show their Tartan Legwear during the Scotland’s Spring Trade Fair this weekend, which co-incided with Robert Burn’s Night!!! Which meant I (Mr Slot City) got an invitation from the Lord Provost to attend a civic reception at the magnificent City Chambers G2 1DU Glasgow. Whilst at the show I had the pleasure to meet some truly delightful and warm hearted people also exhibiting their products!!!!

History

The Monte Carlo Rally promised to be more exciting than ever in 1964. And what had become increasingly evident in the years before then became a clear fact on 17 January 1964. The era of the amateurs was coming to an end, with more and more works teams now entering the Monte. In terms of sheer numbers the works BMC team ran six nimble Minis, with 24 more Minis being raced by private teams.

Mini drivers Patrick Hopkirk and Henry Liddon set out on the Monte with a new and even more powerful car: the new Cooper S with a larger engine which displaced 1071 cc.

The ultra-powerful Ford Falcons, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SE, Volvo 544, Volkswagen 1500 and Citroen DS 19 cars were no match for the Mini Cooper of Paddy Hopkirk finishing as the triumphant winner.
