Own and see a real piece of History in the Making.

The real C2940 GT40 was seen again in the UK
on the weekend of the 26th July 2008, at Silverstone.

The real GT40 crashed over the Easter weekend & needed a new front, and I had the pleasure to meet with Keven Egan the chief machanic to look at the new parts he had been sourcing in the UK. (Wish bone, Hubs, Nose, etc.)
The Car is kept in France, this keeps the damp out of the 4.7 litre 289 Ford V8 Engine and ZF Gear box. Kevin has been working with GT40’s for over a quarter of a century and praised Scalextric
on a job well done. Please take a look at the promotional shots of the GT40 in action by putting C2940 in the search box and click on the magnifying glass to see what a great job Scalextric have done. (Type in C2940 in the search box and click the magnifying glass to see the gallery).

You will note that Scalextric have included the Hallibrand wheels and the wiper is correctly located for the Right Hand drive.
The chassis number is GT40 P1113 and this car was intended to be one of the 20 road cars back in the 60’s. However only 7 road cars were made,
and this GT40 started it’s life in America as a Left hand drive monocoque.
The car was bought by a French/Greek man in 1975, who added a Cosworth DFV 3.0 litre engine and a Hewland Gear box. It was used for a number of years (in Black) for track days until in 1979 when it Crashed. The car only sustained light body work damage, and then spent the next 25 years locked up within a private car collection. Then in 2004 Alain Schlesinger bought the car, and with the help of Kevin and a number of dedicated GT40 engineers bought her back to the racing condition of a 1964 MKI.
This meant the conversion to right hand drive.
The real GT40 has also been seen at Anderstrop Sweden and Marseille this year.
